Inspired by a series of sleep paintings
by Gerald Folkerts entitled “Restless Slumber”
Bless me indeed
Grant me increase
That Your hand would be with me
While I sleep
Protect me from harm
When I wake
Keep me from wrong
This I pray
That I may not cause pain
For with much wisdom
Comes much sorrow
So the more that I know
The more sorrow grows
Like a fish caught cruelly
Like a bird in a snare
We are caught and we are captive
