Rap-ture Indeed…Part One
Last spring, our web designer-aspiring-videographer Jeff Lukin had this nutty idea that he wanted to hear Winnipeg rapper Fresh I.E. take a stab at rapping over Everything We Need, a song from Steve’s recent Devotion album.
FYI: Fresh I.E. is an accomplished rap artist with two Grammy nominations under his belt. He’s excellent at what he does artistically, but also has a big heart for isolated urban and rural youth. Fresh spends much of his time tramping over Canada’s vast north country bringing his music to remote communities.
To make a long story short, Jeff Lukin has proved himself to be a very creative and intuitive videographer! Next week we’re going to hear his side of the story – how he convinced a Winnipeg rapper to combine talents with our own Steve Bell, and what inspired him to create this unique work of art.
The results, you will see and hear soon enough (hopefully next week) – well worth waiting for!

Wow! I had never thought of Steve and Fresh I.E. collaborating on a song. But the prospect of it has me really excited. I can’t wait to see the video. From symphony to rap, the possible incarnations of Steve’s music seems limitless. So when’s that new polka album coming out with Roy on the accordian?

This should be good… am anxious to hear it! Not a big rap fan as a general rule, but I found myself loving “Lost” by Coldplay (the version off “Prospect’s March”, featuring Jay-Z), so I’m very optimistic about this single… I can totally see “Everything” working with some rap input. It’s a fantastic song to begin with, and it has the right groove… So bring it on! (I too am dying of the suspense!)

GRAH! Way to get me excited about something and then tell me to wait. Have you learned nothing about today’s society… delayed gratification doesn’t work

WILL TRY TO BE OPEN AND CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR IT SO YOU CAN CHANGE MY MIND…
