Behold I Make All Things New – the new CD by Alana Levandoski
released Sept. 2015
Produced by Murray Pulver, Alana Levandoski, Steve Bell
This project is what happens when a master-craftswoman and a Christian contemplative meet in the same person.
Alana left an impressive career pursuit (in the music industry) several years ago, to—in her own words, “become who I was meant to be.” The happy result has been a return with a new album inspired by her desire to compassionately address the “identity crisis of the church…helping the Christian perspective of God get bigger as the cosmology expands.”
These are heady words we’re not accustomed to hearing from those craft has so often been relegated to mere entertainment. But Alana is serious. And though her music is most certainly pleasing to the ear, there is deep intelligence and mentored passion here.
I’m so very pleased to have collaborated with Alana and co-producer Murray Pulver to create an album of beautifully crafted soundscapes and delivery. Besides her own thought-rich songwriting, listen for covers of the Waterboys or Leonard Cohen and watch for the liner notes in a special way as painter Julie Ann Stevens collaborated with Levandoski for each track. Poets Malcolm Guite, Scott Cairns, Joel McKerrow and Luci Shaw also collaborate on a track entitled The Christ Hymn.
Mixed and mastered by the incomparable Dave Zeglinski, “Behold, I Make All Things New” is an tuneful touchstone to the central narrative of the Christian faith, reminding us why it matters.
