Steve with Kitchener Symphony | Review http://stevebell.com/2009/12/steve-with-kitchener-symphony-review/ http://stevebell.com/2009/12/steve-with-kitchener-symphony-review/#comments Wed, 09 Dec 2009 12:56:50 +0000 Steve http://stevebell.com/?p=5170 a

Below is a review posted by  a concert-goer who attended Steve’s recent concert with the Kitchener Symphony Orchestra (Dec 6 | 09):

Approximately ninety minutes ago I returned home with my spouse from the Kitchener Symphony show.

It was a magnificent musical tour de force! It inspired, relaxed and nourished us in ways that shall remain for a long, long time.

What a rare moment is was indeed to witness the highest degree of professional musicianship from Steve, the band (without peer) and our own world class K-W symphony.

The Christmas song selection literally begged and cried out for another Christmas CD from Steve. Silent Night was divine and pristine, the Christmas medley was inspired and wonderfully cool.

John Michael Talbot’s “Magnificat” induced chills that may well take months to abate.

Truly, the entire program simply never sagged anywhere close to good – it was always far above that (with the exception of some technical audio difficulties early on – Steve and the band handled this with aplomb and didn’t falter in any way).

The packed house was testament to the inescapable reality that Steve and his band (an Orchestra wouldn’t hurt either) need to be heard many times each year in concert halls around the world; with regular stops in K-W of course.

Mr Bell’s is a cause worth supporting without a shadow of a doubt. I truly hope that many thousands concur with these sentiments.

Many thanks are due to Steve, his band and his Staff.

Gratefully,

Steve M

The 2009 Western Canadian Music Awards wrapped up Sunday night (Sept. 20th) in Brandon, as dozens of artists took home prestigious pieces of hardware.

Of the many of our Signpost comrades who were nominated for the awards, we are soooooo pleased to announce…..drum roll please……the winner for Contemporary Christian Gospel Recording of the Year is our very own Steve Bell for his album Devotion!! Steve was away on tour during the awards, so he was unable to attend. But you can read here the thanks he would have given had he been there.

This is Steve’s second WCMA.  Last year he won for Symphony Sessions.

Western Canadian Music AwardsAlso Steve’s friend and bandmate Daniel Roa won an award for Francophone Recording of the Year. You may remember Daniel as the drummer for Steve’s Symphony Sessions concerts, album and DVD.

Finally, congratulations to Steve’s brother-in-law Vince Fontaine for his band Eagle and Hawk‘s Aboriginal Recording of the year.

Premium Tickets Now Available for Steve Bell Concerts! http://stevebell.com/2009/09/premium-tickets-now-available-for-steve-bell-concerts/ http://stevebell.com/2009/09/premium-tickets-now-available-for-steve-bell-concerts/#comments Wed, 09 Sep 2009 21:10:18 +0000 Faye http://stevebell.com/?p=4235 If you are considering attending a concert this season, we have a new addition to our ticket choices. It’s called the Premium Ticket:

steve-bell-soloYou’ll notice for some concerts there is offered a new ”Premium Ticket.”  This is really for folks who would like to help with the ongoing costs of this work I do.  It is a more expensive seat that offers early access to the auditorium (to select a seat of choice), a chance to come say hi and hang with me before the concert, as well as a free CD of your choice.  Around our office this is cheekily called “meet & greet and a first choice seat.”

Like everyone else, we’re feeling the squeeze of the recession and this is one way folks can help out if they are so inclined. In the next few weeks I’ll be writing a bit about the vision and financial reality of my work. I am looking for ministry partners to help sustain and promote this gift God has entrusted me with, and I’ll outline some of the ways folks can join with me. But for now this is a simple, fun opportunity to be co-belligerents in the call to “promote Christian faith and thoughtful living through artful word and song.”

Cheers!

Steve
