The Anglican Poetics Project Presents:
The Bell and the Bard – A Day Retreat with Malcolm Guite and Steve Bell
Session 1. In Praise of Collaboration
Malcolm and Steve will talk about the significance of artistic collaboration with plenty of examples from their body of work.
Session 2. Introduction to the Anglican Poetry Tradition
Malcolm will unpack the Anglican Poetry Tradition, looking specifically at the poetry of R.S. Thomas, George Herbert, John Donne and his own contribution to the tradition.
Session 3. How To Write a Sonnet
Malcolm will discuss the sonnet form, its inherent beauty and power to draw both the writer and the reader into a deeper knowing. This session will be practical and will help participants attempt or improve their own sonnets.
Session 4. Poems and Songs for the Liturgical Year
Malcolm and Steve will talk about and perform examples of their own artistic engagement with the tradition of the liturgical year.
Following the retreat, there will be a service of Holy Eucharist at 7:00 PM at St. George’s Anglican Church, with guest preacher Malcolm Guite. Open to the public; all are welcome to attend.

Price: $39/person includes catered lunch. Dietary preferences can be indicated below upon registration.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Full refunds less a 20% admin fee will be granted for requests made at least one week prior to event. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person. Refunds cannot be granted for the catered lunches.
