Jenny – Music and Lyric by Steve Bell
I hear a giggle at my side
And it’s a happy face I turn to
Full of innocent desires
Never turning feelings in to hide
But then you’re much too young to join that crazy ride
Jenny you know the hurt can be so cruel
But your life’s beginning and it’s gonna be so full
Two years old ain’t much but it’s a start
And already the love you’ve shown me warms my heart
I won’t pretend to know what lies ahead
And I won’t try to say that I can show you the way
But I can lend a helping hand
You know I hate to see you when you cry
If I can help little friend you know I’m gonna try
Jenny you know the hurt can be so cruel
But your life’s beginning and it’s gonna be so cruel
Two years old ain’t much but it’s a start
And already the love you’ve shown me warms my heart
And in my heart I’ll hold her
Thought the chances are I’ll never know her long run anyway
So I, I will give her over
To the love that holds the children
Oh Lord Jesus keep her safe
Jenny you know the hurt can be so cruel
But your life’s beginning and it’s gonna be so cruel
Two years old ain’t much but it’s a start
And already the love you’ve shown me warms my heart
Hi Steve,
I was doing some organizing in the office this morning and came across my copy of “Awakenings” 2012.
I popped it in the disc player, grabbed my acoustic and as I played along to “Jenny”, I was astounded at the complex counterpoint in this simple ballad to your niece!(it took a minute to find some of the chords)
You truly are a wonderful conduit for sonic inspiration from above.
Love you Bro.
