Everything We Need – Music and Lyric by Gord Johnson
In the morning Lord we do look to you
For the strength we need just to make it through
In the evening Lord we look back and say
It was in your strength that we made our way
You are everything we need
Feed us Lord
Thank you for this song. I love it. It’s become a staple prayer in my life. It was instrumental in giving me the strength and mercy to help me help my mother through a very big move when I couldn’t see how I would make it through. But, I did.
I am also in a long battle with cancer. A recurrence 18 months ago leaves me little hope of a cure, but every day I just “Look to the Lord for the strength I need to make it through…” and he gives me mercy.
This song comes and goes frequently through my mind in a prayerful way. I look forward to the rap stylings coming soon. Thanks. BLB

thank you for this song. The lyrics are also on CCLI, but not a chord progression. Is this available?
Peggy – the chords and melody are right on the audio disk Devotion which has that song on it. If you have the CD, just pop it in your computer and follow the prompts. If you would like to get the CD, click HERE – Staff
love this song!!
The perfect song for this day, when I need the reminder that He is the strength I need to make it through..You are merciful, Lord!
This song is so simple, yet so powerful! Thanks for the gift that this song is! Looking forward to using it as a theme song for the wilderness canoe trips I have the opportunity to lead this summer!
This song has become my prayer of worship.
Thanks Steve for helping me connect.
We are a United Church of Canada cong. in Alberta. And I’m wondering if we can use music from the devotion CD in our Sunday worship?
What are the rules about this. Can we play a selection “everything I need” from the CD? Can we get a score?
Hello Mr. Steve Bell, please come to Germany, Hamburg. I know your Cd Devotion and I like it very much. 🙂
Would you be able to tell the guitar chords used in this song please?
We sang this at church thia morning (The Met in Ottawa) with Lyle, Gord’s brother, leading and it was beautifully meaningful.
Thanks for the lyrics so I can remember them.. Georgia
Hey Steve, we met briefly when you led worship at the Waldheim Missions Conference a year ago, I told you 4 generations in our family are deeply blessed by your music. Now we are back in full time ministry in Italy and your music continues to be a staple in our journey, centering us on The One who feeds us and is everything we need. So thankful for your gift and ministry. God bless you.
